Greendell Park offers a Taekwondo program open to boys and girls from age’s youth to adult. Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursdays from 5:30-6:45pm.
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art which uses a system of blocks, kicks and strikes to build strength and endurance, focus the mind, and expand the spirit. The actual physical movements provide a basic structure for self defense training but the goals of Taekwondo reach far higher. In the continued training of these moves we gain a confidence that spreads to every part of our lives. Increased focus and more energy also impact our lives at every level. It is said that, “in a self defense situation our life may be at stake, while at any given moment the quality of our life is at stake”. We are not just training for that one moment that we may need self defense, we are training for much more. Over time we come to the realization that we can bring much more to all the moments of our lives. Taekwondo encourages us to do anything from our job to the most mundane task with energy, focus and an open heart.
