Youth Sports | Hockey

Greendell Community Centre traditionally hosts several hockey teams each year in several age groups. The teams that we host will be made up of players from all Community Clubs that are in the SVMHA (St. Vital Minor Hockey Association) area. Even though you are registered out of Greendell Community Centre, there is the possibility that you may be playing on a team hosted by another St. Vital Community Centre.

Once Central Hockey registration is completed, Team a allocation meeting will take place between all Community Centres and SVMHA to see which teams will be hosted by which Community Club.

House League - our 5/6 and 7/8 House League teams will play against other house league teams with the SVMHA area. The 5/6 Year Old Program begins with an IP Program (Initiation Program) beginning in late September, that focuses on giving the players some basic skills. Scheduled games will commence once the IP Program is complete. The 7/8 Year Old Program will have games beginning in November against other SVMHA teams and winding up in February. The season finishes of with a double knock out playoff format. The league focus is on skill development and fun.

Novice up to Peewee (A1 - A3) aged teams will play in the Winnipeg Minor Hockey Association (WMHA) West League.

Minor Bantam up to Juvenile (A1 - A3) aged players will play in the Winnipeg Minor Hockey Association (WMHA) Direct Entry.

AAA and AA Hockey - for any players trying out for AAA or AA Hockey, you are still required to register with your local Community Centre so you will have a place to play if you should not make the team you are trying out for.

Female Hockey - female hockey is available for Atom through Midget age groups.
