Indoor Soccer

Registration is open to all boys and girls ages to 18.  Players 8 years of age may register but will only be placed on teams if space is available.

All teams play 1 to 2 games per week (days will vary) starting in October and running till March.  Practice location and times are be determined by the coach once the teams have been formed.  Team formation is based on the number of registered players and 2 teams may be formed per age group should the registration numbers warrant it.  If 2 teams are formed and will be playing in the same division then every effort will be made to balance each team.  If the 2 teams will be playing in different leagues or divisions then evaluations/try-outs and tiering may happen.  If there are too many registrants for one team but not enough to form a second team, then a certain number of players will be transferred to a community centre that requires additional players to form a team in that age group.  The criteria for determining which players are to be transferred are as follows:

  1. Late registrants
  2. Volunteers
  3. Players from outside our catchment area
  4. Random draw
  5. Players previously registered from the last indoor soccer season

Any player registering late has no guarantee of a position on a Greendell Park team.

I.D. Cards

All players ages 13 - 18 require a passport size photo and I.D. card.

Outdoor House League Soccer

House League – Tot Soccer (season runs from May until June)

This program is designed for children ages 5 and 6 years.  For the 2012 season, this includes all children born in 2006 and 2007.  * With permission from the Tot Soccer Convenor, children born in 2008 who are 4 years of age at the time of registration may be accepted.

The program philosophy is based on the ideas of fun and full participation by all players.  It is designed to introduce young children to the basics of soccer, to the joys of team play, and the opportunity to meet new friends in the community.  Each team is formed with a combination of ages, schools and genders and is led by a parent volunteer.  During the game, the coach of each team remains on the field to assist and encourage the players.

The Tot Soccer season generally begins the first Tuesday in May and ends on the last Thursday in June.  Depending on the calendar, the season may begin the last week of April.  Games are played two days per week, on Tuesday and Thursday, for a total of 16 games per season.  Games that are not played due to weather difficulties are NOT re-scheduled.  All games are scheduled for 6:30-7:30pm with a 10-minute snack break at 7:00pm, and all games are played in the south field at St. Vital Park.  Team t-shirts are provided, shin pads and soccer cleats are highly recommended.

The cost of team t-shirts, pictures and the annual wind-up is included in the registration fee.  For more information, please feel free to contact Marci Riel, Tot Soccer Convenor at .

House League – Ages 7 and 8 (season runs from May until June)

This program is for boys and girls ages 7-8.  It is based on fun and full participation by all players.  It is designed to introduce young children to the basics of soccer, to the joys of team play, and provides the opportunity to meet new people in the community.  Every effort will be made to ensure all teams have even numbers of males/females and an equal number of players.

Teams play on a smaller field.  Soccer cleats are optional but shin pads are mandatory.  Teams are coed.  There is no snack time scheduled into soccer hour and each team is responsible for its own wind-up.  The cost of t-shirts, pictures, soccer jamboree and awards in included in the registration.

Teams usually play 3 times per week (2 games and a practice or 1 game and 2 practices).  Each team will determine the exact number of soccer activities per week.  There are some weekend games.  Games are played in May and June with playoffs in September.

Teams will be formed based on the number of registered players.  If the number of registered players warrants it, then two or more teams will be formed.  If teams are to play against each other, they will be balanced as evenly as possible.  If they are to play in different divisions, they will be grouped based on the requirements of the division.  In the past, Greendell Park soccer teams have not been tiered.  Evaluation camps will be held and evaluators will divide teams evenly.  If the numbers are such that there are too many players to be placed on one team and another team cannot be formed, then players will have to be transferred to the next community club that requires players.  The method used to decide which players are to be transferred is:  late registrations; volunteers will be requested.  If there are not enough volunteers, then a lottery for transfer will take place.
