Tots Soccer 2023
Welcome to Greendell’s Mini Soccer 2023
Children ages 7 and 8 (born in 2016 and 2015) participate in the Riel Junior Soccer League with children & families from other community centres nearby.
When and where does all the fun happen for the 2023 season?
CHANGE FROM LAST YEAR - This year, these two age groups will be combined on teams that play on Mondays & Wednesdays (no games on long weekend, May 22).
- The season starts the first week of May (delayed if fields still wet) and wraps up by the third week of June. Games can be scheduled at any of the following locations: Victor Wyatt School, Windsor School, Nordale School, Norberry-Glenlee Community Centre, or St. Vital Park.
How much does this cost?
$104 per player.
The Tim Horton sponsorship provides each child with a soccer ball and a Timbits team jersey to borrow.
For an additional cost, individual & team photos may be purchased from a professional photographer.
What other equipment will my child need?
Your child needs shin guards, long soccer socks, running shoes, and a water bottle.
IMPORTANT: Your child needs to wear long, soccer socks OVER the shin guards for their safety and to prevent injuring other players. If your child says the shin guards are uncomfortable against their skin, make a pair of thin tubes (cut foot off of knee-high socks/tights/old leggings) to wear UNDER the shin guards. These tube socks can be purchased at some soccer/sporting goods stores.
Coaches and Parents:
Each team is led by 2 or more parent volunteer coaches. We depend on parent volunteers to make the season successful for children. Please consider signing up to help coach. This is an EXCELLENT opportunity to be involved in your child’s activities and have FUN as a family.
Each evening begins with 20-minutes of skills games followed by fun game with another team.
Coaches remain on the field to guide players during games. Line changes allow for rest and water breaks.
PARENTS are encouraged to help out on the field as requested by the coaches. This is a
recommendation from Canada Soccer’s Stage 2 - FUNdamentals guidelines for 7-8 year olds.
This means that parents assist coaches by:
-
helping children follow the coach’s directions
-
watching children during sideline breaks
-
discussing good sportsmanship and managing behaviours
-
chasing stray balls and cheering respectfully

We hope you are looking forward to another fun soccer season!
Mini Soccer 2023
The Timbits Tot Soccer Program is for children aged 4, 5, and 6. This means that for Spring 2023, players born in 2019, 2018 or 2017 are eligible to register. The focus of this program is on fun & participation while introducing young children to the basics of soccer and meeting new friends in their community.
When and where does all the fun happen for the 2023 season?
Games are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm from May 2 to June 22. (The start of the season could be delayed if fields are wet at the beginning of May.). The fields are located inside St Vital Park, southeast of the playground between the road around the park and River Road, hidden behind a large row of trees. During the season, if the weather/fields are not suitable, you will be sent a cancellation email as late as 5:30 pm.
How much does this cost?
$104 per player. This cost includes an individual and team photo from a professional photographer. The Tim Horton sponsorship gives each child a soccer ball and a participation medal at the end of the season. Timbits team jerseys are borrowed and returned at the end of the season.
